Cool

I'm trying to remain cool. But this concert is kicking the life out of me. As is the GAPS diet that Connor is on for seizures. As is my dirty house with parents coming in town tomorrow. Not to mention no hubs this week. So, I need to count some blessings and remember the cool things that are going on around here...

-The concert is happening
-Connor's had a few good days of hardly any seizures
-Everybody Talks is in the iTunes Alternative Top 10
-My parents are coming in town
-Next week is Disneyland with my sisters/rents/kids
-Next week is Jimmy Kimmel (p.s. it will be 2 years minus 24hrs to THE DAY that they first played Kimmel. Which was their first TV appearance. Remember that? I almost threw up that day!!)
-Paul Weller's new album comes out in one week

Also Cool:
This guy

Katie's first time roller skating

She likes to do her homework in Connor's crib

Katie's stuffed animal tower

Connor being soooo good during his neurofeedback session

Dreams

Last night I dreamt that I replaced Dana Plato on Different Strokes and the show was still running to this day. So awesome. Then, I had another baby. A girl. And I didn't know I was pregnant. The baby just fell out of me. Then, Paul Banks and I were time travellers. And we could breathe under water. It was glorious.

I Live In The "All Interpol, All The Time" World

24 more hours til the new release. I have to come clean and admit that for the past couple months I've been listening to a horrible quality, bootleg download that leaked somewhere. It is unmixed and sounds like crap. So much so, that I wasn't sure I was liking what I heard. I felt even more disappointed when I saw the video for Lights. I didn't like it. I was scared that my love affair with Interpol was going to be interrupted by this album. I didn't want to have to forgive them for it. My pessimism was furthered when I watched the performance of Barricade on Letterman last month. I love the song, but had to admit that there is a serious loss of mojo without Carlos. Paul was unshaven. He's been wearing trucker hats at shows. His voice wasn't sounding strong. I can only attribute this to what must have been a bad breakup with Helena Christensen. I was having serious Interpol anxiety. Then I saw this:

...and I knew everything was o.k. Yes, Paul looks like he's mourning and in pain, but you know, Helena. So, they're back. They're 100%. It's all good. And October shows are almost here. Rock on.

Lollapalooza 2010

I'm going to try to post my favorite shots of the weekend. Though I may fail...'cause I have that thing. You know...that rule where I can't spend more than 10 minutes on a post. And I'd like to post almost all of the 800ish shots I took. So, I may fail at posting my favorites. And these are in no kind of order. I'm not even going to deal with that. And it was the best weekend ever. EVER.

Merry Christmas To Me, From Paul Banks

Over the last 10 days I have LITERALLY watched over 20 hours of Interpol performances on YouTube. Yeah, that's a little obsessive. But I'm like that about music and you already knew that. I have a lot to say about Interpol, too much to blog about (yes, I still stick to my rule of never spending more than 10 minutes on a post).

So when I woke up this morning and Bdog read me a press release about all the west coast dates they added to their tour, it felt like 5 big Christmas presents. I've been lamenting about their fall tour...all East coast and Europe. I felt seriously shafted. So now I am rejoicing and trying to decide who we will call to cash in some favors.

Enjoy a couple of my top 20 Interpol performances...you're gonna have to cover your ears once on Specialist though.

God bless all of Paul's moles and his little white Adidas. Amen.

And here's a link to a GREAT performance of Rest My Chemistry. At the beginning, it looks like it's going to be crappy video, but it's not.

Broken Bells

If you don't know what Broken Bells is, it's the new project by James Mercer and Danger Mouse. And if you don't know who James Mercer is, he's the singer from The Shins. And if you don't know who The Shins are, you've been living under a rock. Just kidding. You're not living under a rock. But the album is fantastic. I really love it and it's on heavy rotation over here. (It must be something to get Habits out of the disc player.) I'd like to say that it's great, but not as great as The Shins, only because The Shins hold a special place in my heart since a sweet high school friend, Marty Crandall, played bass for them. But I can't. I think it's even more awesome than any Shins record, and you might too.

Catch Up

The last couple months are a blur. Here are a few highlights:

Christmas!!

Neon Trees in LV at The Hard Rock:

And this girl was really digging it and it was cool, 'til there was some inappropriate touching involved...on her end of course.

And miracle of miracles, MANDY came to a show. And she brought Shea so that was extra awesome:

And they played with Nico Vega which was FANTASTIC. I want to trade singing voices with Aja:

NYC to see my boyfriend and my peeps:

I love Bdog's halo in this pic:

and his rock face in this pic:

Video shoot for 1983:

This is the place:

And finally, Andrea and Baylor's awesome wedding in D.C.:

There was so much grooving and sweet moves happening...it was mind-blowing:
